Its large, protected harbor is strategically located at the north end of the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway. Easily accessible from the Great Lakes and the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, it’s the perfect location for in-water winter storage for northern boaters.
Pickwick Lake is a manmade reservoir created by the construction of the Pickwick Landing Dam as part of an effort to provide hydroelectric power to the surrounding area. Construction of Pickwick Landing Dam began in 1934 and was completed in 1938. When the reservoir is full during the summer, Pickwick provides nearly 490 miles of winding shoreline, about 43,100 acres of water surface and over 240,000 kilowatts of electricity.
